Folding table napkins: simple fan, double fan (star) napkins

Simple Fan Napkin

Often seen, also in restaurants. The undeniable advantage is, that it is very fast to do, the disadvantage is that you can't prepare it if you need masses of napkins.

Fold the napkin to a rectangle. Then fold accordion-like stripes as seen in the drawing, a little bit more than the half of the napkin.

Turn the napkin to the other side and fold the flanks together.

Now make a "foot": fold the upper edge into a triangle. It should be a 1-inch border at the bottom.

Put this border away to the back. This gives the napkin a littel bit stability.

Double Fan (Star) Napkin

The first serious task in napkin folding! Doing the double fan needs a certain extend of skill and care. To more precise you make the following steps, to better is the result.

Open the napkin completely and fold the upper and lower quarter to the middle. In this fold you can level a irregular ironed napkin.

Clap the napkin together so that the borders are invisible.

Lay the napkin in accordion-like stripes. Be very exact.

On the lower border you have a simple zigzag line, on the upper a double one. Hold the napkin tight in your hand.

Pull out of every single fan a triangle-like piece to downwards. Do the same on the back side. Press the napkin bold after every single task.

In this form the napkin can be prepared, the best is to put them into a box.

To finish, open the fan.
